I love the tart flavor - very BOLD! But not crazily so - and they aren't killer strong like some of the harsher alcohols out there. Somehow they always seem to break out at parties. Mike's Perspective: Yep, this is one of my favorite drinks when the evening turns to shots. Many people don’t like to do shots because they are too strong or too harsh. This is the mildest of them all, yet still quite bold. We’ve been through a number of iterations of various amounts of citrus. Ha!Įventually the grapefruit kamikaze was born. Whenever Mike saw me at the juicer, he’d start eyeballing with hope. So, when asked for a kamikaze I usually would start mixing things up with what I had on hand. I’d typically squeeze a few lemons and limes in with the grapefruit to get an extra bold citrus flavor. So easy to juice! I was on a huge grapefruit kick for a while. I love squeezing citrus to make super fresh, bright, potent flavors for cocktails. Mike has been enjoying kamikazes since the old college days and still enjoys one every now and then. Traditionally, it is made with vodka, triple sec and lime juice. It’s simple and uses typical ingredients often available in anyone’s home bar. The Kamikaze is a shot that will be around forever. Today we have a variation on an old classic - The Kamikaze. Then just pour 2 ½ ounces of the mixture into each glass. To make a large batch, you can mix the grapefruit juice and syrup ahead of time. Juice and syrup can be prepared a day or two in advance. Hey all! It’s your mixologist, Patty, back at it again with another bold drink recipe, this one just in time for the New Year celebration. 12 oz (1 ½ cups) freshly squeezed ruby red grapefruit juice (from about 1 ½ to 2 large grapefruits) 3 oz (6 tbsp) rosemary syrup.
